Practice Driving: 50 Hours-Required Students must practice with a licensed driver over the age of 21 for 50 hours, 40 hours daytime and 10 hours at night. The students parent or guardian must sign a notarized statement saying the student has completed the 50 hours before the student receives a Behind the Wheel Certificate. Before your teen can take the road test, they must complete at least 50 hours of practice driving, with at least 15 hours at night (after sunset) with a parent, guardian or driving instructor. The parent, guardian or instructor must certify the supervised practice driving on a Certification of Supervised Driving (pdf) (MV-262).
